Do you ever wonder why so many types of toothbrushes are available? Do you wonder which would work best for you and your family? Have you heard that choosing the right toothbrush can benefit your oral health? To help choose well, we’re happy to provide a few things to consider when you choose a toothbrush.
Your Preferences: In reality, the best toothbrush for you will probably be the one that you use most often and most comfortably. You might think an electric toothbrush is uncomfortable or find the vibrations pleasant. If you like the feel of your toothbrush, you will probably clean your teeth more thoroughly. To adequately clean your teeth, you should brush for two minutes.
Efficacy: Brushing and flossing is the most important thing you can do to protect your smile. You should be able to reach all of your teeth easily. A head that is too large may make your toothbrush hard to maneuver, causing plaque to be left behind.
Electric vs. Manual: Many studies have compared electric and manual toothbrushes to find which is more effective. The results have shown that there isn’t much difference. Manual and electric toothbrushes can clean your mouth just as effectively. However, your dentist may recommend a rotating-oscillating toothbrush—one that moves back and forth and up and down.
